As discussed in the last post and agreed by most, it is true that education, by far, is seen as a major issue in terms of poverty. I strongly believe that improving access to education is one way in which poverty will be reduced.
That brings me to another question for you.
What are the effects of poverty on certain countries? It would be great if you could discuss in terms of MEDC's and LEDC's.
Why is this state caused? Is it only (lack of) education? Or is it...?
I leave that for you to comment on.
The effects of poverty are: (LEDC):
ReplyDelete~ No access to health care and not enough doctors for people, which might lead to an epidemic, and consequently lead to a major decline in population;
~ Poverty would also effect the access to education, as there would be no money to build public schools, and therefore poorer people wouldn't be able to receive free education;
The effects of poverty on MEDC:
Poverty in countries leads to health issues, I read that in total 270 million people, most of them women and children have died of hunger or malnutrition.
ReplyDeleteAlso, education gets affected by poverty. In third world countries children don't always have the chance to go to school, this leads to uneducated children who won't have a future. Even if the children can go to school, it doesn't mean they can afford buying books, pencils etc. I also read that according to experts, many women become victims of trafficking due to poverty, because there is economic desperation.
The likely effects of poverty on MEDC, would most likely be: competition for jobs and prestige education, and would possibly lead up to inflation and consequetly - economic crisis. The main issue is, that people in MEDC aren't as used to poverty as people in developing countries. So for people in the richer countries, it would be more difficult to adjust to a less luxurious style of life.

ReplyDeleteI personally think that poverty is caused by something greater. I think that the millenium goals relate to each other, solving one of them can be the reason of easily solving another one. poverty is the main crisis on earth, but there are greater things which cause it, for example the lack of education is assiocated with poverty. if people cannot be educated, they will not have the ability to survive in their future. if poeple participate in helping eradicate poverty, then we will go somewhere. a small minority of teh mass of earth do help, but we need more. people tend to say that MEDCs do not tend to have poverty compared to LEDCs. poverty is all over the country, and we need to make a say. for example...some of you might know the "Kony 2012" event. it is known worldwide and people are participating to get rid of the problem, why cant we do the same with poverty? poeple need to learn how to persuade, and convince, that will get us somewhere.
ReplyDeletewhat i found out that poverty causes lack of education and lack of education causes poverty..which is vice versa this works both the ways and i think this is a good point
